    About Mark S. Beasley

    Mark Beasley, Deloitte Professor of Enterprise Risk Management, is director of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Initiative at NC State’s College of Management.

    He has been actively involved with the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission and currently serves on the COSO Board. He was part of the leadership team that developed an ERM framework to help boards of directors and senior executives effectively design and implement ERM processes.

    Mark is currently working with COSO to develop internal control guidance for smaller businesses. Additionally, he is serving on The Conference Board’s ERM Working Group and Research Advisory Council is developing guidance to assist boards of directors with their risk management governance. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the Enterprise Risk Management Initiative International, a consortium of universities around the world focused on ERM education and research.

    About Bonnie Hancock

    Bonnie Hancock is the executive director of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Initiative, and is also a lecturer in accounting at NC State’s College of Management.

    Her background includes executive positions at both Progress Energy and Exploris Museum. She has served as President of Exploris, and at Progress Energy, has held the positions of president of Progress Fuels (a Progress Energy subsidiary with over $1 billion in assets), senior vice president of finance and information technology, vice president of strategy and vice president of accounting and controller. Thus she brings unique insights on boards and executive management as well as practical perspectives on managing risk across increasingly complex global enterprises.

    Her teaching focuses on financial management and business valuation.

    About Bruce C. Branson

    Bruce Branson, professor of accounting, is associate director of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Initiative at NC State’s College of Management.

    Bruce’s teaching and research is focused on financial reporting and includes an interest in the use of derivative securities and other hedging strategies for risk reduction/risk sharing. He also has examined the use of various forecasting and simulation tools to form expectations used in financial statement audits and in earnings forecasting research.
