College’s Shack-a-Thon Team Aims for Top Four Spot
Monday, Sep 28, 2009
College of Management's first team of students to enter NC State's Habitat for Humanity Shack-a-Thon is hoping to finish as one of the top four fundraisers, said Lauren Ginsberg, one of the student leaders who organized the college's activities in the event.
By the time the shack had been taken down Friday evening, the students had raised $1,435, putting it in second place out of the 15 teams competing to raise the most funds for Habitat for Humanity. The students raised the money by selling cupcakes and other baked goods as well as College of Management t-shirts with the ‘Taking Care of Business since 1992’ slogan on the back, and collecting donations in conjunction with resume reviews.
“It is very close and will be hard to maintain if we do not continue to collect donations,” she said in an interview Sunday evening. “We are hoping for continued support from the student body, college faculty, and alumni,” she said.
The team hopes to end up among the top four teams, she said. Fundraising continues through 5 p.m. on Oct.2. Contributions can be made online. The college’s student team is called Alpha Kappa Psi/Peer Leaders/COM Ambassadors.
