The ERM Initiative has been actively engaged with boards of directors of North Carolina community banks through the Advanced Directors College—a program developed in concert with Joseph Smith, NC Commissioner of Banks and his staff.
As part of the faculty teaching these programs, I have appreciated my interaction with the bank directors, as it has given me tremendous insight into the challenges faced by smaller, community-focused banks as they compete in markets that are constantly innovating and evolving.
I am able to take these insights and stories back to my classrooms and provide real world examples of risk management issues faced by North Carolina banks.
