MAC Program Admissions - Evaluation Criteria

The Admissions Committee evaluates candidates on three criteria:

  1. Undergraduate academic record and grade point average, including prerequisite accounting courses for those without an accounting undergraduate degree

  2. GMAT score: The admissions committee requires that all applicants who score below 530 on their first attempt to retake the exam prior to the application deadline.

The most recent class averages for the GMAT exam and GPA were 587 and 3.5,       respectively. GMAT information can be obtained online.

3.  "Leadership" - such as:

  • Relevant activities and/or internship and work experience

The MAC program encourages accounting students to participate in internships with public accounting firms or corporations to enhance their educational experiences and their professional skills.

  • Presence, leadership, integrity and other personal characteristics

Who can apply?
Individuals with an undergraduate degree in any major or seniors expecting to earn an undergraduate degree in any major by the start of the fall 2008 semester may apply for admission to the MAC program.

Students without an accounting degree
Admission is also contingent upon completion of a set of seven prerequisite courses which include accounting and certain other courses that are the equivalent of those required for an undergraduate degree in accounting at NC State.

Applicants may be accepted to the program prior to completion of the prerequisites, but will not be admitted to 500-level courses in the fall or summer until the prerequisites are completed.
