MAC Study Abroad - Summer 2010

This Study Abroad program provides MAC Class of 2010 and 2011 students an opportunity to participate in two short-term international experiences. Both programs take place during NC State's Summer I semester.  Students will have the opportunity to return to NC State for Summer II course work in Raleigh, if desired. Summer II courses begin on July 1. Students have the option of attending one or both sessions.

The following courses will be offered in 2010:

MBA 590 – Fraud: Commission, Detection & Prevention
Dr. Eileen Taylor (NC State)
(May 17-June 6)

This 3 credit-hour course taught by Dr. Eileen Taylor will serve as a MBA elective (all MAC students are required to take a total of 2 MBA electives, 6 hours total).

The session will begin Monday, May 17 and conclude on Sunday, June 6. This session will also include a three day-two night excursion to Munich, Germany.

ACC 510 - Accounting for Mergers & Acquisitions
ACC 511 - Accounting for Derivatives
Dr. Bruce Branson (NC State)
(June 5 - June 27)

These two 1.5 credit-hour courses are required of all MAC students and are taught by MAC Professor Dr. Bruce Branson

This session will begin Saturday, June 5 and conclude on Sunday, June 27. This session will include a three day-two night excursion to Vienna, Austria.

Classes are held in the NC State College of Design’s Prague Institute—a renovated fourteenth century building located in the heart of the historic center of Prague. Hotel accommodations are in Vinohrady--a residential section of the city a short tram or metro ride from the city center.

Cost of Program

The program fee for summer 2010 is likely to be approximately $3,350 per session. If a student would like to attend for the entire 6 weeks the fee will be $6,250. This program fee includes graduate tuition, hotel accommodations with breakfast each day, the Study Abroad fee, medical insurance, a special events fee, a Prague travel pass, weekend excursions outside Prague (Munich Germany/Vienna, Austria) and orientation materials. Airfare is not included and was approximately $1,200 per person in 2009. Students are responsible for lunch and dinner each day and are encouraged to budget between $100 and $150 a week for meals.

Please note that the program fee includes applicable tuition for these courses. MAC students completing 3 hours in residence at NC State in the summer of 2009 paid tuition and fees of $1,659 (in-state) or $3,093 (out of state). Summer 2010 tuition and fees have not yet been released (but will be higher).  Please consider the incremental cost associated with the study abroad experience in making your participation decision.
