MAC Class of 2009

MAC ORIENTATION

We are kicking off the Fall 2008 semester with MAC Orientation, scheduled for Friday, August 22nd. Team building and informational activities will be planned for both the morning and afternoon. We'll send you more information on orientation in a later newsletter, but please block off the entire day on your calendar. We will be having a social event at the end of the day. This event will begin at 5:00 at a location near campus. Please plan on attending this casual and fun event and get to know more of your classmates!

UNITY EMAIL ADDRESS CORRESPONDENCE

While a student in the MAC Program, your Unity email address will be the address that NC State uses for correspondence with you. Starting on Friday, August 15 - the MAC Program will begin to use only this email address. Email regarding your classes, student information, eBILLs and correspondence from faculty will be sent to your Unity address. To check your Unity email, you can use Webmail (http://webmail.ncsu.edu), or you can use an IMAP-compliant email client--see http://www.ncsu.edu/resnet/email/email_setup.php for more information.

If you still want to get your university related emails at a non-NCSU address, you will need to forward your Unity email to that other address. To forward your Unity email, please visit the Unity forwarding page located at: https://sysnews.ncsu.edu/tools-bin/usmdb-forwards

For more information on the email address information that NC State maintains, please see http://www.ncsu.edu/it/essentials/email_messaging/address-changes-2007.html

If you have questions, please contact the NC State Help Desk at 515-HELP, help@ncsu.edu, or http://help.ncsu.edu.

MAC LAB

All MAC students have access to the MAC Lab, in Nelson 1418. There are computers and work spaces for your use, along with a refrigerator, microwave, etc. The doors to the MAC Lab have keyless-entry locks. The codes will be changed between the end of summer session II and the start of the fall semester - they will be sent to you in a separate email before the start of the semester. Please guard these codes and do not give them out to non-MAC students.

You also have access to a locker in the graduate area. If you would like to use a locker please select one that does not already have a lock on it, and e-mail Ryan Platin with the locker number. You will be responsible for anything left inside the locker-so protect yourself and lock it after use!
