We are pleased that you will be joining the NC State MBA program this spring. The following information will be helpful as you start the program. Please note that attendance at orientation is expected of everyone and is critical for a smooth transition back to school.
New part-time admitted students are invited to join MBA admissions staff and fellow incoming students for an online chat. You may take this opportunity to ask questions about orientation and registration, as well as connect with other new students. The new student online chat for students beginning the program in Spring 2010 will be held on Thursday, December 3rd 2009 from 6:30 – 7:30PM. The MBA Office will send you a reminder email a few days before the event, which will include the link and access code. Another chat will be held during the summer for students starting in Fall 2010.

Registration
Because all students take the same series of core courses, the MBA Program Office will register all incoming students for classes your first semester. You will receive an email from the MBA Office listing your unity/user ID once we register you for Spring 2010. For updated information on course times and professors, please visit the university’s MyPack Portal online course schedule.
Spring 2010 Class Schedule for New Students
The university Spring 2010 calendar, which the MBA program follows, begins Monday, January 11, 2010. Evening three-credit hour classes meet 6:00-8:45pm. Evening two-credit hour classes meet 6:00-9:30pm. Classes run January 11-April 30. Finals run May 5-13
The MBA office will enroll you in your classes for your first semester, but you will have to self-enroll in subsequent semesters.
Main Campus
The first class you will attend, MBA 503 Accounting for Managers (3 credit hrs), will be on Monday evenings from 6:00-8:45pm. Classes for MBA 503 will start on January 11 and end on April 26.
You will also be enrolled in MBA 530 Managing the Global Workforce (2 credit hrs) on Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:30pm during the first half of the semester which begins January 14 and ends February 25.
After MBA 530 ends, you will begin a new class on Thursday evenings for the second half of the semester, MBA 500 Managerial and Career Effectiveness. This class, which also meets 6:00-9:30pm, will begin March 4 and end April 29.
RTP Campus
The first class you will attend is MBA 530 Managing the Global Workforce (2 credit hrs) on Monday evenings from 6:00-9:30pm during the first half of the semester which begins January 11 and ends March 1.
After MBA 530 ends, you will begin a new class on Monday evenings for the second half of the semester, MBA 500 Managerial and Career Effectiveness. This class, which also meets 6:00-9:30pm, will begin March 8 and end April 26.
You will have an assignment for MBA 500 due the first day university classes, January 11. Career Resources staff will email assignment directions to you during the first half of December.
You will also be enrolled in MBA 505 Economics for Managers (3 credit hrs), which will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:45pm. Classes for MBA 505 will start on January 14 and end on April 29.
All students taking classes on the NC State campus will receive tuition bills via email. The date you receive your E-bill will depend on when you were officially admitted by the Graduate School. Payment after the deadline results in course schedule cancellation. Please be sure to add e_bill@ncsu.edu to your list of trusted senders. You may also check your bill by logging in to MyPack Portal. To login, you’ll need your Unity/User ID and password, which will be emailed to you within the next few months by the MBA Program.

You may pay your tuition bill online by credit card (ePay). The University accepts Master Card or Amercian Express. However, Visa or Discover are not an acceptable method of payment. For more information, please see: Payment Options.

New students will pay a one-time $50 fee to the MBA Student Association (MBASA). The fee will be used for professional and social student events and activities within the MBA student clubs.
Orientation for part-time students will be held on Saturday, January 9th. The orientation agenda will be posted shortly. We will be sending you important information by email before the start of the semester, please be sure to read every email thoroughly and check this webpage at least once every few weeks for updates.
All elements of orientation are mandatory, so please be sure to take care of any personal business before or after orientation. Business casual attire is recommended. You will receive an MBA book bag at orientation, so you will not need to bring one.
Student ID Card
The MBA Program will take your picture when you arrive for orientation. This picture will be used to make your NCSU Student ID Card. You will receive your NCSU Student ID Card shortly after the semester begins.
Immunization Record and Report of Medical History
Part time students do not need to complete an immunization record. You may receive information about this form by mail or email – please disregard this correspondence.
Students should complete the tests by December 4th, 2009. The results of these tests will be used to assist the MBA Staff in developing effective teams that will be used throughout your classes.
Test #1: Short Form for the IPIP-NEO
After completing this 120 question survey, you will receive an overall score in each of the five areas (Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, and Openness to Experience). Be sure to save or write down your numerical score from each of the five areas, as you will not be able to access your score report after closing the page.
Test #2: Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test (Similar to MBTI)
After completing this survey, write down your four-letter type.
Once you have completed the IPIP-NEO and the Jung Typology test, please Report your results.
All students must complete a basic calculus course prior to beginning MBA coursework; however, you do not need to complete this course prior to submitting your application.
Textbook orders are placed by each professor through the NC State Bookstore. Students should check with the bookstore for the list of required books for each class. If the NC State Bookstore does not have the book order, your professor will inform you of the books you need to purchase by your first day of class.
Textbooks are available at the NC State Bookstore on campus (919.515.3119). Books may also be available at Addam’s University Bookstore at 2109 Avent Ferry Road (919.832.9938), Pack Backers Bookstore at 2526 Hillsborough Street (919.832.9900), and through Internet sources.
If you plan to park your car on campus on a regular basis between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., it is strongly recommended that you purchase a parking pass. Parking after 5:00 p.m. is free.
