MBA Student Organizations

BioSciences Management Club

The NC State BioSciences Management Club is a student organization dedicated to helping students with an interest in BioSciences gain better insight and connections to the industry. The organization promotes a wide range of activities including monthly meetings, tours of Triangle area companies, presentations by local executives who work in the field, and group attendance to local and national conferences. The club is also involved in helping present the Annual BioSciences Forums. These forums provide a venue where key industry leaders discuss real management issues with students, faculty, entrepreneurs, investors, and relevant support personnel.

The NC State MBA Student Association (MBASA) was formed for the purpose of building a network among MBA students. The MBASA provides a chance for students to interact with fellow students, faculty, business leaders, and the surrounding community. The organization offers a series of activities to address professional and business issues that are not generally included in the formal program but are critical to the overall MBA experience.

The National Association of Women MBAs is dedicated to empowering women MBAs and graduate women in business in order to propel more women into leadership positions in corporate America and to enhance the diversity of the nation’s workforce.

Net Impact

Net Impact is dedicated to promoting the various principles of corporate sustainability. Our members believe that business can both earn a profit and create positive social change. The majority of our activities are geared toward educating our members and our fellow students about these issues.

Services Management and Consulting Club

The SMCC is an academic club formed for MBA students who are interested in careers focused around managing services, including careers in fields such as consulting and IT management. These students may likely be planning to choose a services management concentration in the NC State Jenkins MBA program, but students from any concentration may also gain value from the club. The primary mission of the club is to build, share, and maintain a professional network for club members around services management and consulting. Our interests include any activity – such the formation of a case competition – that will help the NC State Jenkins MBA students distinguish themselves to potential employers. We envision that through collaboration with each other, the college’s career resources staff, and our combined networks. we will help to build a prestigious reputation for MBA students studying services management in the NC State Jenkins Graduate School of Management.

Business Ethics Society

The Business Ethics Society is dedicated to a “best-practice” approach to the creation and management of moral capital in organizations. The Society sponsors activities that include: workshops and meetings to share ideas, networking with executives from the business community, case competitions, training and certification toward a Black Belt in Business Ethics, and maintaining a directory of resources useful for business ethics research and application.

Economics Society

The Economics Society explores economic issues and related careers, such as: banking, government, the stock market, portfolio management, international trade, foreign and domestic investment, currency fluctuation and balance of payments, and environmental issues. Students from all majors can take part in this society.

Entrepreneurs Club

The Entrepreneurs Club promotes entrepreneurial activities and education. Activities include guest speakers, projects, conferences, sponsorship of the annual Business Plan Competition and the Conference on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Success.

Institute of Management Accountants

IMA membership provides opportunities for students to associate with practicing management accountants, financial managers and information managers; to see how they live, work, and apply their knowledge. Members range from professionals beginning their careers to presidents and CFOs of major corporations. Membership also includes CPAs, educators, students, and many involved with federal, state, and local governments. International Business Club

This organization was established to enable business and non-business majors at NC State to learn about international business practices and issues. The group hosts an international business speakers series.

National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA)

NABA’s major thrust and its programs are designed to help strengthen the skills base for its student members, identify opportunities for minority students and professionals in the accounting profession, and encourage a greater number of African-American students to select accounting as their chosen field of study.

Peer Leaders

The College of Management Peer Leaders is an organization for rising sophomores and above that seeks to foster a sense of community within the college by welcoming all freshmen as well as providing one-on-one mentoring to freshmen. Peer Leaders attend a leadership development class and receive training on advising and communication skills that enable them to make a mutually beneficial connection with their freshmen. The club assists the College of Management with freshmen activities throughout the year.

Pre-Law Student Association

This pre-professional student organization is dedicated to sharing information about careers in law and facilitating admission to law schools. Activities include visiting North Carolina law schools, panel discussions with local attorneys, LSAT preparation, and guest speakers.

Society of African-American Corporate Leaders

The SAACL provides students with strategies for professional and academic success through networking opportunities with African-American professionals, organizations, faculty, and the business community.

SHRM helps you get a head start on your career! Activities include: guest speakers, mentors from parent chapter, networking with professionals in the field, attending conferences, and gaining critical leadership and team building skills.

This student organization was formed as part of a new multidisciplinary program led jointly by faculty in the College of Management and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS). Student Ambassadors

The College of Management Student Ambassador Club is an organization geared towards students that want to develop strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills. The club will focus on assisting the College of Management in facilitating various promotional activities with the College such as Make a Date with State, New and Transfer Student Orientations, the Fall/Spring Commencement ceremonies and alumni activities.

Toastmasters International

We are the campus affiliate club of Toastmasters International , a non-profit membership organization. The first Toastmasters club was established in 1924 in Santa Ana, California, by Dr. Ralph C. Smedley, who conceived and developed the idea of helping others to speak more effectively. The club is open to anyone who wants to improve their public speaking.
